The B1M: World Construction

The construction channel known from YouTube, in one-minute form: skyscrapers, megaprojects and infrastructure, from Sagrada Família to Heathrow.

The B1M: World Construction

What it is

The B1M is the construction video channel many people know from its longer YouTube documentaries about skyscrapers, airports and city-scale infrastructure. Its TikTok runs under the motto "Making construction famous", and it does what the name promises: takes a real project and explains, in a minute or two, what is being built, why it's built that way and what makes it unusual. The account is linked from the official site, theb1m.com, so you know it's the real thing. When we checked, it had around 198K followers and was posting several times a week.

Why we picked it

A lot of short-form architecture content is pretty pictures with music on top. The B1M goes the other way: almost every video answers a specific question. In the last few weeks alone it has taken viewers inside the construction site at Sagrada Família in Barcelona, explained how Chicago's Sears Tower (officially the Willis Tower now) shaped modern skyscraper design, and shown the delicate job of deconstructing an old building in central London before the UK's tallest new tower can go up. There are also pieces on Egypt building a "new Nile", on Texas getting its first new tallest building in more than 40 years, and on a $49BN plan to fix Heathrow.

What we like is that it doesn't stop at the facade. One recent video looks at how you protect a complex historic building from fire; another is about a rare American project that finished on time and on budget. It's the engineer's and developer's view, not the tourist's: what it costs, who builds it, where it gets hard.

Where to start

  • Find the Sagrada Família video — a good example of the access the channel gets to sites most people never see.
  • Watch the Willis Tower piece for a quick lesson in why one building changed a whole profession.
  • The London deconstruction video covers something rarely discussed: taking a building down in a dense city centre is its own engineering problem.
  • If infrastructure is your thing, go to the Heathrow and "new Nile" stories.
  • If the format clicks, many of these stories have full-length versions on The B1M's YouTube channel.

Who it's for

Anyone who stares up at tall buildings and wonders how they got there. Architecture and engineering students who want a quick way to keep up with major projects around the world. And curious people in general: the videos are short, light on jargon and well shot, so you don't need a background in construction to follow them.

Quick answers

Is this a news channel? Not really. It's stories about specific buildings and projects — how and why they're built. Current projects show up, but there's no politics.

Is this the official The B1M account? Yes, it's linked from theb1m.com.

How often does it post? At the time of our check, several times a week, with new videos throughout September and early October 2026.
