Design Sniper: a daily design minute

Designer Dmitry Karpov's Russian-language channel: identities, logos, typography, rare books and the small details that make design work — in short daily posts.

Design Sniper: a daily design minute

What it is

Design Sniper (Дизайн-снайпер) is a Telegram channel about graphic design run by designer Dmitry Karpov. Its tagline is roughly "design with meaning in the crosshairs". When we checked, it had around 28,000 subscribers and posted almost daily, sometimes several times a day. The captions are in Russian, but the work itself speaks any language.

Every post is a "minute": a local-work minute, a history minute, a rarity minute, a logo minute, a detail minute. One or a few images, and a line or two on what to look at.

Why we picked it

It's a quick way to train your eye. Posts are short but always carry a point: why this logo works, how one margin fixes a layout, what makes old typography so good.

In a single day the feed showed an identity for Rostov Kremlin, a classic typographic sample book for a Riga soap factory, and spreads from a book about Herb Lubalin. Other days brought an identity made for a shelter dog to help it find a home faster, Rorschach blots as part of visual culture, and a tiny detail in the footer of McLaren's new site that everyone missed while arguing about the logo.

The "local work" posts regularly feature Russian studios and brands, so it doubles as a window into a design scene most English-language feeds don't cover.

Where to start

  • Browse the history and rarity posts for the best vintage graphics and type.
  • Look through the logo posts — short, visual takes on why a mark works or doesn't.
  • Find the McLaren footer post; it's a nice lesson in looking closer.
  • Save favourites as you go and you'll end up with a personal reference folder.

Who it's for

Graphic designers and students who want a daily dose of good work, marketers and small brand owners who want to see what separates solid visual identity from random choices, and anyone who loves typography. A browser translator handles the captions fine.

Quick answers

Who runs it? Designer Dmitry Karpov, credited in the bio as author and host.

Is it in English? No, captions are in Russian, but the posts are mostly images with a line or two of text.
