Bureau Gorbunov's Advice
Nearly five thousand short answers from a Russian design studio's designers and editors on interfaces, typography, writing and management. In Russian.

What it is
Sovety, or Advice, is a column by Bureau Gorbunov, a Russian design studio, where its designers, editors and developers answer questions from readers. When we checked, the archive held 4,882 pieces of advice, and it is still growing: the latest answers were from mid-to-late September 2026, covering things like fitting raw receipt data on an A4 page, how to handle lists, and learning in the age of AI.
Each day of the week has its own topic and authors. Monday is inspiration, Tuesday is interface and navigation, Wednesday is typography and visualization, Thursday is development, Friday is management, Saturday is photography and icons, and Sunday is writing. There are also separate threads on presentations, retouching and data visualization.
Why we picked it
The answers are short and practical. Someone sends in a layout, a slide or a paragraph, and an editor explains what is off and how to fix it, often with before-and-after images. Reading one critique after another is a surprisingly effective way to train your eye.
It also goes beyond graphic design. You will find advice on writing emails, running projects and captioning screenshots, all handled with the same care the studio is known for in the Russian-speaking design world.
Where to start
- Note that everything is in Russian; browser translation works reasonably well, and the before-and-after images speak for themselves.
- Pick the weekday topic closest to your work and scroll through recent answers.
- If you build slide decks, open the presentations thread.
- The Sunday writing column is useful for anyone who writes at work.
Who it's for
UI and graphic designers, editors, developers, managers and anyone who makes presentations or reports, especially Russian speakers or those curious how a well-regarded Russian studio thinks about design.
