Art Vision
Paintings from Botticelli to Malevich, every one credited, many with a short story about what's going on in the picture. Captions are mostly English, some Russian.

What it is
Art Vision is a Telegram channel that posts several paintings a day. When we checked it had around 27,700 subscribers. The description promises classic and contemporary work, painting, illustration and digital art, but the feed is mostly old masters and 19th- to early-20th-century art.
Captions are mostly in English, with some posts in Russian. The paintings need no translation, though the stories are more fun if you can read them.
Why we picked it
Every painting is credited with its title and artist, which, sadly, isn't a given on visual channels. Many posts add a short story. On Kuindzhi's "Moonlit Night on the Dnieper": when it was first shown, viewers checked behind the canvas for a hidden lamp. On Henri Rousseau, who painted all those jungles without ever leaving France. On Malevich's "Black Circle", and why, for a Suprematist, a circle is neither a sun nor a planet.
The mix keeps you guessing. On a single day you might get Gauguin, Goya, Botticelli, Edmund Dulac and Tair Salakhov's portrait of the composer Kara Karayev. It's a good way to meet painters you've never heard of.
One caveat: some posts list a "price" for the painting, with no source for the figure. We'd take those numbers with a pinch of salt.
Where to start
- Scroll through the last day's posts — there are usually a dozen or more.
- Look for posts with longer captions; that's where the best stories are.
- When you meet an unfamiliar name, look up more of that artist's work.
- Save favourites in Telegram to build your own little gallery.
Who it's for
Anyone who enjoys painting and wants something new to look at every day, art-history students, and people who like their art with a story attached.
