History with Kayleigh: ancient history
A Dutch history creator films dolmens, underground cities and new digs in Türkiye, explaining what we know about the deep past.
What it is
Kayleigh Düring is a Dutch creator behind the YouTube channel History with Kayleigh (about 278,000 subscribers) and a TikTok of the same name. Her TikTok bio calls her an "Ancient History Nerd" with an interest in archaeology and anthropology. Her territory is the deep past: the Neolithic, megaliths, burial mounds, pyramids and early humans.
Recent videos include a walk through the underground city of Derinkuyu in Cappadocia, told honestly by someone with claustrophobia; an update on new finds at Karahantepe from September 2026; a question about how ancient people would have reacted to an eclipse; the G1 dolmen in Groningen; animal carvings from ancient sites in Türkiye; and a clip explaining that Homo habilis was not the first species to make stone tools.
Why we picked it
Ancient history online is full of "mysteries scientists won't explain". Kayleigh covers the same famous sites without that tone: where the place is, what was found, what is still unclear. She often films on location, so you get a real sense of scale, from the narrow tunnels of Derinkuyu to a dolmen sitting in a Dutch field.
We also like her range. Next to the headline sites like Karahantepe, she makes room for the modest Dutch hunebedden, Neolithic tombs few people outside the Netherlands have heard of.
Where to start
- Derinkuyu through the eyes of a claustrophobe, the liveliest of her recent clips.
- The Karahantepe update, for current archaeology news.
- The G1 dolmen video, as an introduction to Dutch hunebedden.
- The Homo habilis clip, on who really made the first stone tools.
Who it's for
Anyone drawn to prehistory, megaliths and archaeology. Travellers heading to Türkiye or the Netherlands. People who want short, grounded videos about the ancient world without the mystery-show drama.
