Today's GitHub Trending

A bot-run English channel that posts repositories from GitHub Trending, each with language tags and a plain summary of what it does.

Today's GitHub Trending

What it is

GitHub Trends (@githubtrending) is an English-language Telegram channel where a bot automatically posts new repositories from GitHub's Trending page. Every post has the same shape: language and topic hashtags, a paragraph on what the project does and why you might care, and a link to the repo. The bot's author and maintainer is credited in the channel description.

Why we picked it

The summaries make it. Instead of a bare link you get a readable paragraph on what the project is and what problem it solves. Recent picks include Notepad3, a small portable Windows text editor you can run from a USB stick; AutoClip, which downloads videos from YouTube and Bilibili and uses AI to cut highlights; OpenDisplay, which turns an iPhone or iPad into a second screen for a Mac; and BrewUI, a visual front end for Homebrew.

The feed is a decent snapshot of where open source is heading. A lot of it revolves around AI agents — sandboxes like Google's AX, spec-driven planning tools like OpenSpec, self-hosted assistants. Alongside them you'll find Mac utilities, Android APK decompilers and a cross-vendor 3D Gaussian Splatting trainer running on Vulkan or CUDA. Hashtags like #python, #go, #typescript, #swift and #rust make it easy to filter for your stack.

Where to start

  • Scroll through a week of posts to see which topics are trending.
  • Search the channel by your language hashtag, e.g. #rust or #swift.
  • Pick a couple of small tools to try — Notepad3, BrewUI or the Tinycast launcher are good examples.
  • Into AI agents? Search for #ai_agent.

Who it's for

Developers and tech-curious readers who want to track GitHub trending repositories without checking the Trending page every day. Because it's a feed of short summaries, it works well as a morning skim: a minute or two tells you what's picking up stars, and the link is there if something's worth a closer look. Occasionally a repo arrives with a Chinese description, straight from Trending.
