Helen Musselwhite's paper worlds
British artist Helen Musselwhite cuts layered 3D scenes from paper: flowers, foxes, birds and whole landscapes. The feed shows finished pieces and process.

What it is
@helenmusselwhite is the account of Helen Musselwhite, a British artist whose bio simply says she makes things, mostly from paper. In practice that means layered, three-dimensional pieces: flowers, leaves, butterflies, foxes, rolling hills and trees, all cut by hand and stacked so they cast real shadows.
Captions are in English, but the work speaks for itself.
Why we picked it
Paper feels like such a humble material, which makes it even more fun to see what a patient maker can do with it. Through spring and summer 2026 the feed followed a collaboration with Jimmy Choo: she made paper flowers, foliage and butterflies for a bag shoot, display props for the Bond Street store and forty tiny table pieces for the launch party. In one caption she explains that the event was candlelit, so she used deeper paper colours and added small painted and burnished dots to the flower centres and butterfly wings so they would catch the light.
Craft details like that are the best part of this account. You see the result and also how she thinks.
Where to start
- Find the "Midsummer and Midnight Foxes" post, an older piece she brings back every June.
- Open the behind-the-scenes posts from the shoot to see how elements are cut and assembled.
- Look at her recent poster competition entry with sketches, where her paper thinking turns into graphics.
- Scroll back to the landscape pieces with layered hills; they look great zoomed in.
Who it's for
Anyone into paper craft, collage and paper sculpture. Illustrators who want to push beyond flat images. Window dressers and people who decorate for events will find plenty of ideas. Kids tend to love it too, since the pieces look like storybook scenes.
